Brian Foley takes 12 gauge title in World Shoot
 Brian Foley, a Bakersfield high school junior who is one of the most promising young shooters in the country, won perhaps his most prestitious title yet by claiming the 12 gauge champion in the World Shoot this week (October 8, 2008) Foley was among 14 shooters who shot a perfect 250 and then he outlasted a talented field to win the shootoff. Lewis, Claunch & Foley top HOA field in Desatoff Open skeet
 Dan Lewis shot a scorching 399 in record heat at the Kern County Gun Club to take HOA champion at the Desatoff Open May 17-19. (go to "shoot results" in the yellow toolbar for a complete list of the winners) With temperatures well over 110, Lewis outlasted Steve Claunch in a shootoff to take top honors.  Congratulation s to Hal Stewart III, Brian Foley and Emily Shuford who were named to the National Skeet Shooting Association All-American squads. Stewart made the Senior  First  Team,  Foley (a  Ridgeview High junior)  made the  Junior  Second Team and Shuford (a  Bakersfield High freshman) was named to the Sub-Junior Second  Team. Mayes takes HOA in Ken Barnes Open
 The legendary Waynes Mayes took HOA (high overall) honors at the Kenny  Barnes Open, shooting a 399 to best all shooters. It was a weekend of plenty of hundred straights, but no  one managed to get the elusive "four by four" that made Barnes famous. Top shooters from around the country were  there - Billy Dee Williams, Larry Sifers, Ron Hurlbert , Bill Burke, Lori Desatoff, Larry Sifers, Brett McLaughlin, George Desatoff, Kurt Grates and Brian Foley to name a few - and the weather cooperated. Brian Foley wins HOA in Black Gold Skeet
 Kern County's Brian Foley bested the field in the Black Gold Skeet tournament held March 21-23 at the Kern County Gun Club. Brian took HOA honors, shooting a 396, under splendid conditions on an Easter weekend. Other HOA winners included Paul Mooney in A Class, Steen Thomsen in B Class, Richard Beene in C Class, Brooke Shuford in D Class and Dwayne Thomas in E Class. Scholastic Clays

 The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) provides school age kids in grades 12 and under with the opportunity to showcase their competitive shooting skills and earn state and national recognition. The program is designed to instill in participants safe firearms handling, commitment, responsibility, leadership and teamwork.  We will have instructors and coaches to teach trap, skeep and sporting clays. we invite new shooters as well as those who already shoot to come join us and join the fun whether it's competition shooting or just having fun with your friends.  The Kern Coun...

 Our youth program ended in June on a positive note. It was a successful year during which dozens of kids participated from September through June. I'd like to thank all the kids and parents for taking the time to come out and participate. We enjoyed having you all here and we look forward to seeing you all again in September. I want to give a very special thanks to all of our coaches and all of our volunteers who helped make the program a success.  Of course we are always looking for volunteers (click on headline to read more), as well as donations to help pay for targets and ammo for the kids.
