The Kern County Gun Club broke ground for its new facility in September 2002, two years after the old club (located on China Grade Loop near Gordon's Ferry) closed for good. The club now consists of nine trap fields, eleven skeet fields, a 20-station sporting clays facility and one five-stand range.
The Kern County Gun Club is known as one of the nicest shotgun sports clubs in the West, and the background for viewing targets is simply without parallel: nothing but blue sky and flat ground. The club was built with the generous donations (and sweat equity) of hundreds of members and supporters. Painters, plumbers and electricians donated their time and materials as the new facility grew one trap and skeet field at a time.
The facility now includes a main club house, outside barbeque area, full restrooms and RV parking. In 2007, the club hosted the California Skeet Shooting Assn Championships as well as the 11-state Zone 7 Skeet Championships. Trap and pot shoots are popular and the new Sporting Clay facility has won an instant following. Make sure to check our calendar for information on upcoming local and regional shoots.
The club is open to the public but also offers annual memberships. To join, simply download the membership application and bring it in.
